MATTERS ARISING FROM THE MEETING ON 16th March
I think we had a record number of people attending this morning - 27 by my count. I hope it wasn't too squashed, and you all managed to see what was going on.
For the first hour, we discussed setting screen display properties - resolution. colours and refresh rates. I hope you will have the courage to optimise your own display. Just a reminder that the notes for that particular topic are on this website - just check the notes for 16th March.
If any of you want to look into this (to me) fascinating topic, I recommend the following web site
http://stweb.peel.edu.on.ca/pcsweb/Pc_tut/06graphics.htm
which explains everything from the simple to the very complex.
After coffee, we found out how we could configure the mouse to our personal liking. There's no need for me to expand on that. It's explained well in the text book, and most of you seemed to cotton on anyway! Have fun.
Finally, we formatted a floppy disk, and then created a system disk. This is something we will have to go into in more detail in our project (was surgery) session on 30th March, when we will need to install Windows on our hard disk from scratch, and will need not only a system disk, but will be formatting a hard disk too, something that the average computer user never has to do.
Don't forget - no meeting next Saturday, Project Oasis on Easter Saturday 30th March and a formal session on 6th April. If I don't see you before, I hope you have a pleasant Easter break.
Finally, a reminder of my e-mail addresses:
